Due to an increasing interest in the national applied arts and traditional crafts there was a necessity to create suitable premises.
Several rooms in the culture center IĻĢUCIEMS were adapted and renovated to accommodate the needs of the CRAFT HOUSE.
The goal of the CRAFT HOUSE is to preserve the national crafts art and to promote the culture of the Latvian traditional applied arts, by giving the visitors of IĻĢUCIEMS an opportunity to visit and view the accomplishments of the CRAFT HOUSE, and to participate in the work of the studios.
The CRAFT HOUSE welcomes everybody, who is interested in acquiring craft skills such as weaving, knitting, crocheting, braiding, knotting, jewelry making, embroidery, blacksmith and painting.
We offer courses for children, youth, seniors, people with special needs and various social groups. The CRAFT HOUSE organizes guided tours of workshop, master classes, seminars, workshops as well as plenary sessions are organized.
