The culture center IĻĢUCIEMS was founded in 1973 when the  complex of commercial and household services was built. As the number of residential homes and residents in IĻĢUCIEMS was rapidly increasing the  local management decided to devote part of the complex to accommodate the culture needs of the rising population.

The area of activities of the culture center IĻĢUCIEMS:

• Opportunities for culture events and interest groups for inhabitants of  Riga and mainly for the inhabitants of the surrounding area;
• Providing long term craft skills traditions, song and dance festivals;
• Developing creativity and talents of children, youth and adults by providing opportunities to participate in various fee based groups and groups free of charge
• Accessibility of professional arts
• Spreading of culture information

The goals and objectives of the culture center IĻĢUCIEMS:

• To promote the culture of applied and traditional arts
• To develop the culture life in Iļģuciems and the surrounding area, providing  regular culture events
• To provide opportunities for people to express themselves creatively by participating in the amateur arts groups offered  by the culture center IĻĢUCIEMS and the studios of AMATU NAMS.
